Last year, PokerStars announced it was looking to sign a pro from either Australia or New Zealand and that player has now been definite as Roy “GodLikeRoy” Bhasin.

Australia’s Roy Bhasin will consequently take his place amongst the other members of Team PokerStars Online, having compressed off a shortlist of other candidates which included Jonathan Karamalikis, Jesse McKenzie, Jay Kinkade, Tim English, Benn Skender, and Matt Wakeman.

Commenting on the thrilling news of his signing, Roy Bhasin said:

“I feel incredibly humbled and honored to have been chosen to be a part of Team PokerStars Online. It has been a dream of mine for a while now, and to actually see it come true is an incredible feeling.”

Roy Bhasin said he was brought up enjoying competitive games with his family, but became interested in poker after catching some action on TV. That was five years ago and now Roy Bhasin still plays predominantly online, where he can be found crushing the Pot Limit Omaha cash tables. The PLO specialist’s successes also include a 2010 SCOOP runner-up finish at the $2,100 PLO event for $40,800, and talking about his favorite poker variant, said:

“I truly believe that the game is more fun, complex, interesting and challenging and that all poker players should learn to play it.”

Isildur1 To Battle Isaac Haxton

by admin on March 29, 2012

The PokerStars Superstar Showdown has been running since December 2010, during which time Viktor “Isildur1″ Blom has recorded  9 wins and 4 losses out of 13 matches, amassing $534,090 in profits along the way.

Though, some of those personal losses were matches played over two rounds, such that out of his 11 opponent’s faced only Isaac “philivey2694″ Haxton is ahead overall.

In their first run into played at stakes of $50/$100, Haxton made a profit of $41,701, which he then followed up a year later with another battle this time at stakes of $100/$200, in which he won $5,093 after first digging himself out of a $100,000 hole.

The rivalry between these two online sensations is obvious, and so now the young pros have upped the ante for a third encounter, which will see both players putting up $500,000 a piece in a winner takes all Superstar Showdown. This time around, however, there will be no match limit of 2,500 hands but instead the players will play four tables of $200/400 NL for four hours a day until one of the players has lost his complete stack.
